Every August, the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry launches a month-long event called the Mandaue Business Month. The Mandaue Business Month aims to fulfill the charter of the Chamber which is twofold: to help their members, and all other Cebuano businesses, grow their businesses; and to help the community grow through Corporate Social Responsibility.
Hubby S has been active in the Chamber for the past 5 years and he is very passionate about the activities that they have implemented together, as a group. The group works hard and they also have fun together which is a huge plus for a group of volunteer businessmen whose only aim is to help the community in any way they can.
This year, S is chairing one of the highlight events of the Mandaue Business Month called the Business Summit. The Business Summit is a venue for many distinguished and expert speakers in their own fields to come together and teach the Cebuano Businessmen ways to survive and thrive in a business environment that changes so fast.
I have attended the Business Summits of the past three years and I’ve got to say, bias aside, it has always been highly informative and educational. When you’re so close to the day-to-day of your business, you don’t get to see problem areas or opportunities that are right in front of you. Listening to experts and different points of view really helps you see the bigger picture and the possibilities or pitfalls that are out there that you may not normally see.
It’s so easy to fall into the trap of complacency, only to get left behind by the changes of the business environment.
Events like this makes learning more accessible, it’s just one day which doesn’t take much time and the possibilities of learning so much from so many interesting speakers is priceless.
I’m looking forward to enjoying this year’s summit just as I have enjoyed all the other summits in the past. It’s a welcome break to my daily routine.
